Report: mixwell to stand in for Cloud9 at Cologne and ELEAGUE
With ESL One Cologne 2018 coming up in a little over a week, some teams have yet to finalize their rosters. One of these teams is Cloud9, who are still without a definite fifth after Pujan “FNS” Mehta was benched from the active roster about a month ago. After rumors of trialing Nathan “NBK-” Schmitt, Rush B Media has learned that Spanish player Óscar “mixwell” Cañellas is in discussions to stand in for the North American team at ESL One Cologne and ELEAGUE Premier. mixwell has played with both Tarik “tarik” Celik and Will “RUSH” Wierzba on the ELEAGUE Season 2 winning OpTic Gaming roster and is no stranger when it comes to communicating in English.
mixwell has most recently played for the French in G2 Esports, but was benched along with NBK- and Dan “apEX” Madesclaire when the organization decided to go with Edouard “SmithZz” Dubourdeaux, Kévin “ Ex6TenZ” Droolans, and Richard “shox” Papillon. With Cologne being in Europe, the trip to the event would not be such a big deal to a homebound mixwell who has expressed his feelings on playing in North America so it is a perfect time to play a little bit of catch up with his former teammates.
While Cloud9 search for a more permanent fifth player, mixwell acting as a stand-in certainly makes things easier for the team moving forwards. If the move is settled upon, we find ESL One: Cologne and the upcoming season of ELEAGUE as proving grounds for not just Cloud9, but mixwell as well while he competes at a top level once again.
