moose returns to eUnited lineup; vanity Benched

In-game leader Anthony ‘vanity’ Malaspina’s nine-month tenure with eUnited is coming to an end, according to multiple sources close to the team. The eUnited lineup with vanity at the helm found itself consistently in last place at LAN tournaments. More recently, eUnited failed to qualify for ECS Finals in week five vs MIBR. That was the team’s last official and may have been the last straw between the two parties. With vanity going to the bench, previously benched rifler Kaleb ‘moose’ Jayne will return to the starting lineup and recent addition Ryan ‘freakazoid’ Abadir will fill the vacancy as in-game leader.

During the nine-month window, the team placed last in four of five LAN events they played in. They also failed to qualify for a few big LANs, including the StarLadder Major. Their LAN record of 12-24 is evidence that they have trouble qualifying for tournaments, and especially have trouble hanging with the competition at the tournaments. The North American organization hopes these inconsistencies can be fixed by improving the firepower. After a brief stint on the bench, a motivated and resurgent moose could be what the team needs to find success.

We will not have to wait long to see the new look eUnited, as they will be competing against 100 Thieves, FURIA and Isurus in the second stage of ESL Pro League group play. FURIA is coming off a strong third place showing at StarSeries Season 8 and 100 Thieves is in the midst of a finals run at IEM Beijing. At the time, it is unclear if this is the permanent lineup beyond Pro League, but potentially playing two top ten teams is great proving grounds.

eUnited has declined to comment.

Should the move happen, the eUnited lineup will look like:

Austin ‘Cooper-’ Abadir

Edgar ‘MarKE’ Maldonado

Victor ‘food’ Wong

Ryan ‘freakazoid’ Abadir

Kaleb ‘moose’ Jayne
